The clinic screens the daughters of women who were prescribed DES
(Stilboestrol) in pregnancy, and the daughters of women who were
prescribed drugs in pregnancy (mainly to prevent miscarriage) and who
cannot eliminate DES as that drug.
DES was known as Stilboestrol in Ireland and the UK. Women can be
referred to the clinic by their doctor or they can self-refer. If DES
exposure is confirmed, these women are screened annually and are
advised with regard to any particular problems they may experience
which are related to their DES exposure.
The clinic operates under the direction of Dr. Myra Fitzpatrick M.D.
M.R.C.O.G. M.R.C.T.I.
DES mothers may also attend the clinic if they have concerns
about their own health.
The clinic is free.
